Taking a domain to another provider

You can take a domain bought from us to another provider at any time. You fetch the transfer code yourself in the portal, in the «Domain» tab — no support request needed. With the code you order the move at the new provider; the rest plays out between them and the registry and takes a few days, depending on the ending.

What has to happen first

Your website only keeps running after the move if the new zone holds the same records as today. The portal shows them when you fetch the code — the same list someone gets who brings a domain to us. There it is a guide, here it is a warning.

The code stays the same

If you fetch the code twice, you get the same one twice. We don’t reset it, because a reset would invalidate a move already under way.

What happens to the renewal

As soon as the domain no longer belongs to us, its renewal with us ends and the yearly subscription for it is closed. We notice that by ourselves — you don’t have to write to us. From then on your new provider renews it.

If your website should stay with us

Then you don’t need the move at all. It’s enough to switch the name servers and take the records along, see Changing name servers.
