Publishing a website

Publishing transfers the current state of your website to the address where visitors see it. Before that, two things are worth using: the preview, which shows you the same page under a time-limited address, and the dry run, which lists what would be transferred without changing anything. The live website stays unchanged until the operation finishes.

Preview

The preview address is valid for a limited time, depending on the plan. It is meant for looking and for passing around, not as a second website: it is not intended for search engines and it expires.

A preview address can’t be taken back once it exists — whoever has it can open it for as long as it is valid.

Dry run

It shows which files would be new, changed or gone. That is the moment to notice that half a folder was deleted by accident. Only then do you publish for real.

After publishing

The state is kept as a version. You can publish an earlier state again at any time, see Versions and rolling back.
