Plans and add-ons – what you need for what

Every website has its own plan, and add-ons can be booked on top. The plan decides where your website lives and whether it can be published; the add-ons bring what not every website needs – PHP above all. You’ll find current prices and your booking in the portal on your website, in the «Plan & billing» tab. Your assistant knows them too and tells you what your idea needs on your website.

The three plans

Free – to try things out and build. Your website runs straight away at an address on freesite.space, with a small badge at the edge of the page, and search engines are asked not to index it. Building in the chat, preview, versions and taking over an existing website all work. More: The free plan and the badge.

Website – your own hosting – for anyone who already has web space. You build with us and publish via FTP or SFTP to your server. What runs there – PHP, a database, mail – is up to your provider, not us. You store the access details in the portal, never in the chat.

Website – MADLAB hosting – everything with us, in Switzerland and the EU. No badge, findable by search engines, with your own domain (bring yours or order it from us), unlimited versions and a data area for PHP websites. This is the plan most business websites need.

The add-ons

Add-ons are only available with a paid plan, and they apply to the website you book them for.

• PHP – server-side code on our hosting, its own container per website. It makes contact forms, orders, a login or a database with SQLite possible. In the preview PHP runs for everyone, even before you book – so you see it working before you pay. More: PHP and the data area.
• Visitor statistics – how many people visit your site and what they look at, without cookies and without a consent banner. More: Visitor statistics.
• Preview addresses that last a week – for sign-off with your clients. Without it, a preview address lasts one hour.
• Access keys – your own keys for scripts and automation. You don’t need them to connect an assistant.
• Personal support – an answer from a person within one working day.
• 5 GB extra storage – for websites with many images or downloads.

A domain isn’t a box to tick: it comes from the domain search, with a price per ending.

Booking and switching

You tick plan and add-ons in the «Plan & billing» tab and pay for them in one step. Switching plans moves your website: from Free to MADLAB hosting the address changes from freesite.space to madsite.ch, the old one redirects, and the badge disappears the same second – without publishing again.
