Forms
On our hosting, your website accepts forms – with the plan «Website – MADLAB hosting» and on the free plan too, without PHP and without a third-party service. Every entry lands in the portal, in your website’s «Forms» tab, and arrives as an email to the owners of your account. Both plans include 100 entries a month; MADLAB hosting with the «Form entries» add-on gives you more.
Building it in
Tell your assistant, for example: «add a contact form». It connects the form to our service – it sends to /__formular on your own address – and builds in the spam protection. Then publish, and the form works.
In the preview, nothing is stored and nothing is sent. Anyone who submits a form there sees how the entry would arrive instead. After publishing, try it once yourself.
Where the entries go
- Into the portal, «Forms» tab: with the date and the page they came from. From there you download them as CSV or delete individual ones.
- By email to the account owners, at the address they registered with. If the form contains an email address, «Reply» writes straight to it.
We never send an email to an address from the form – not even a confirmation to the sender. Otherwise any form could be abused to send emails to strangers. A thank-you page on your website shows visitors their message has arrived; your assistant builds it for you.
Spam protection
No captcha and no third-party service: a hidden field only bots fill in, a minimum time to fill in the form, a limit per visitor and a check for suspiciously many links. Whatever is recognised as spam is quietly discarded. Files can’t be sent through the form.
When the quota is used up
Once the monthly quota is used up, visitors see a notice instead of a confirmation until the end of the month, and you get one email about it. The «Form entries» add-on under «Plan & billing» gives you more.
Privacy and retention
What visitors write is stored encrypted on our servers in Switzerland and the EU, on your behalf. After twelve months we delete entries automatically – download important ones before then. Your website’s privacy policy needs a paragraph on it; your assistant gives it to you when building the form in.
With your own hosting
With the plan «Website – own hosting», our form service isn’t available: a form runs through your own hosting there, for example with PHP and your provider’s mail server.
